Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 24, 2026
Paw ID ("Paw ID," "we," "us," or "our") operates from Mexico and provides an app that helps you keep a health record for your pets, set care reminders, and chat with an AI assistant about your pet's history. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to the Paw ID mobile app.
We aim to follow the principles of Mexico's Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP). If you access Paw ID from outside Mexico, you understand your information will be processed in Mexico and by the service providers listed below, which may be located in other countries.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Email address, display name, and profile photo (via Firebase Authentication, including Google sign-in if you use it).
- Your subscription plan and status (free or Plus).
Your pet's information
- Basic profile details: name, species, breed, color, gender, date of birth, adoption date, sterilization and microchip status, and a profile photo.
- Health records you add: vaccines, deworming treatments, weight entries, allergies, notes, and any documents or proof-of-vaccination images you upload.
- Reminders you set for vaccines, deworming, or custom care tasks.
- If you create a lost-pet QR code: the contact and reward information you choose to include, plus a photo.
AI chat
When you use the AI assistant, we store your messages and the assistant's responses so you can revisit the conversation. To answer your questions, we send relevant parts of your pet's profile (such as species, breed, age, sterilization status, and allergies) along with your message to our AI infrastructure provider, OpenRouter, which routes the request to an underlying language model. Do not share sensitive information in chat that you would not want processed by these providers.
Device and technical information
- A push notification token, if you enable push notifications, so we can deliver reminder alerts. Most reminders are scheduled and fire directly on your device, even offline.
- Basic technical data needed to operate the app and API (e.g., request logs for debugging and abuse prevention).
We do not collect your device's precise location. The lost-pet QR feature only stores the contact details and text you manually enter.
Payment information
Subscription purchases are processed by Apple, Google Play, or Stripe, and managed through RevenueCat. We never see or store your full card number. We receive your subscription status, plan, and renewal/expiration dates so we can unlock the correct features on your account.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the core features of the app: the health carnet, reminders, weight tracking, sharing links, and AI chat.
- To operate your account and subscription.
- To send reminder notifications you've asked for.
- To respond to support requests sent to our contact email.
- To maintain the security and reliability of the service.
We do not sell your personal data or your pet's data.
3. Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers that help us run Paw ID:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and account identity.
- OpenRouter — processes AI chat messages and relevant pet profile data to generate assistant responses.
- RevenueCat, Apple, Google Play, and Stripe — process subscription purchases and billing status.
- Railway — hosts our API and database.
If you generate a share link or lost-pet QR code, anyone with that link or code can view the information it exposes. These links are created at your choice and can be limited or revoked from within the app.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Paw ID, our users, or the public.
4. Data retention
We keep your account, pet, and chat data for as long as your account is active. Some records (pets, vaccines, deworming, weight entries, documents, reminders) are soft-deleted when you remove them, meaning they're marked as deleted and hidden from you but may be retained for a limited period for backup and integrity purposes before permanent removal.
5. Your rights and choices
You may access and update most of your account and pet information directly in the app. To request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account and associated data (rights known in Mexico as ARCO rights — Access, Rectification, Cancellation, and Opposition), email us at hello@paw-id.com.mx. We will respond and process verified requests within a reasonable time.
You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings. Reminders stored locally on your device will stop alerting if notifications are disabled.
6. Children's privacy
Paw ID is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your information, including relying on established providers (Firebase, Railway) for authentication and hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Paw ID evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
